On Sept. 8, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach hosted a fall field day at the ISU Southeast Research and Demonstration Farm near Crawfordsville, Iowa.

The field day started out with a growing season update from Myron Rees, superintendent of the ISU Southeast Research and Demonstration Farm, and Greg Brenneman, ISU ag engineer specialist, provided an update on the CENUSA biomass project.

ISU Extension and Outreach Fisheries and Aquaculture Specialist Allen Pattillo talked about farm pond management. Allen shared tips on how to manage common aquatic weeds and fish in the pond.

Ryan Bergman, program coordinator in ag and biosystems engineering, discussed the basics of aerial imagery and what types of information these images can provide to farmers. He also did a demonstration on UAVs/drones.

Farmers also had the opportunity to learn about the Forecast and Assessment of Cropping sysTemS (FACTS) yield forecasting tool from Sotirios Archontoulis, ISU Extension and Outreach cropping systems specialist.

Thanks to the speakers and everyone who attended the 2016 ISU Southeast Research and Demonstration Farm Fall Field Day!
