2022 offerings of Agronomy in the Field

Agronomy in the Field is a workshop series for women that provides learning opportunities over forage and crop production. Focus is placed on developing agronomic and decision-making skills that can be utilized on one’s own personal or family cropping operations, including water quality and conservation practices. These workshops will be lead with hands-on opportunities in crop fields to help participants solidify the concepts and information they are taught.

For the 2022 growing season, three Agronomy in the Field cohorts are being offered across the state. Below are the details for each of the cohorts including location, dates, time, and registration information.

Northern Iowa: NIACC farm near Mason City

  • Dates: April 27, May 11, May 25, June 8, June 22, July 20, August 17, September 7
  • All sessions will be held from 5:30 to 7:00 pm.

  • Cost is $35* ($20 for high school or college students).

East-Central Iowa: Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids

  • Dates: May 18, June 15, July 13, August 10, September 14
  • All sessions will be held from 5:30 to 7:00 pm.
  • Please register for this location by May 11. Contact the Linn County Extension Office at 319-377-9839.
  • Cost is $50* ($20 for high school or college students).
  • Special thank you to Linn County Extension and Kirkwood Community College for partnering and supporting this cohort!

South-Central Iowa: various locations in Davis County

  • Dates: May 17, June 14, July 12, August 9, September 13
  • All sessions will be held from 5:30 to 7:00 pm.
  • Please register for this location by May 10. Contact the Davis County Extension Office at 641-664-2730.
  • Cost is $25*.
  • Special thank you to the Davis County Extension Office for partnering and supporting this cohort!

*For each location, the cost covers all supplied materials and resources. This course is valued at $75 per person but due to the generosity of the above listed county Extension offices, the registration fee is being subsidized.

 

These workshops will be led by ISU Extension and Outreach field agronomists Angie Rieck-Hinz (Northern Iowa), Rebecca Vittetoe (East-Central Iowa) and Clarabell Probasco (South-Central Iowa).
