Due to COVID-19, the Pesticide Safety Education Program (PSEP) at Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will host a limited number of statewide virtual private pesticide applicator Continuing Instruction Course (P-CIC) programs. These are in addition to the in-person programs being offered across the state to help private applicators maintain their recertification
Virtual P-CIC dates and times are listed below.
- Jan. 20; 9-11:30 a.m.
- Feb. 11; 9-11:30 a.m.
- Feb. 18; 9-11:30 a.m.
- March 1; 1-3:30 p.m.
- March 16; 7-9:30 p.m.
- April 6; 7-9:30 p.m.
- April 12; 1-3:30 p.m.
The courses will be offered on a virtual remote basis; applicators can join the recertification course by viewing it on their computer or tablet at home. Each applicator must be logged on individually; only one applicator can participate on a single device.
Interested persons must preregister by contacting their county extension office. If a county does not plan to offer the virtual training, applicators can preregister with one of the counties listed on the PSEP website. Applicators will need to send the $20.00 course fee to the extension office they registered with to complete their registration.
Once registered, applicators will receive a Zoom link to participate in the virtual recertification program. Participation will be monitored, and participants will need to respond in the chat box to questions to ensure their engagement in the program and to receive credit for the course.
Participants will receive a certificate of completion via email upon receipt of the virtual remote program's course fee and attendance verification.
There are also local opportunities for in-person live or virtual P-CIC programs with field agronomists and prerecorded DVD programs at county offices. Private pesticide applicators should contact their county extension office for details.
Applicators have until April 15, 2021, to attend a P-CIC program.
