Fertilizer and Finance
The Humboldt County Extension Office will host a Fertilizer and Finance workshop on Wednesday, August 27 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Humboldt County Extension Office located at 727 Sumner Ave, Humboldt, IA. This workshop will be led by Eric Weuve, farm business management specialist, and Angie Rieck-Hinz, extension field agronomist, both with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.
Fertilizer prices are up, partially due to tariffs and crop prices are lower. This workshop will take a broad look at the cost of fertilizer inputs and trends and your current soil fertility levels. As a result, you will be able to create your own fertility plan to best manage your dollars. “The goal of this workshop is to allocate fertilizer dollars where you need to maximize crop production,” says Angie Rieck-Hinz, extension field agronomist. This workshop will focus on phosphorus, potassium and lime inputs. Producers are encouraged to bring their most recent soil tests to use in this workshop.
The cost of the workshop is $50 and includes printed materials and refreshments. You must be registered by August 25 and we need to have at least 10 people registered to hold this workshop. Certified Crop Advisors can earn two nutrient management (NM) continuing education credits for attending this meeting.
Time is available after the meeting for one-on-one soil fertility consultations.
Please contact the Humbolt County Extension Office at 515-332-2201 to register and make arrangements to pay the workshop fee.
