Clayton County Pasture Walk

This hands-on pasture walk is designed for forage producers and land managers interested in improving pasture productivity. The program will provide practical insights into weed management strategies, forage species selection, and fertility practices.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn directly in the field, observe herbicide demonstration plots, and discuss real-world pasture challenges with experts. The program will also highlight how proper management practices can enhance pasture health and overall productivity. Transportation to the pasture will be provided via hay racks. A light dinner will be served following the tour.

  • Pasture weed management - weed identification, herbicide options, and herbicide demonstraiton plots 
  • Pasture fertility management 
  • Pasture renovation - interseeding and frost seeding, species selection
  • Rotational grazing systems 

Registration: 

Pre-registration is requested by June 26 to the Clayton County Extension Office.

There is no cost to attend, thanks to the support of Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, Clayton County Extension and Outreach, and Corteva. A light dinner will be provided after the pasture walk.
