What We Do

  • During the growing season we provide real-time measurements and forecasts for weather, soil water and nitrogen, crop water and nitrogen update, yield predictions, crop staging and heat/frost stresses.
  • Before/after the growing season we benchmark production, economic and environmental performance, estimate the yield gaps, and perform what-if scenario analysis to identify management practices with the highest profits and lowest environmental impacts.

Weather forecasts will be updated daily, while the soil and crop is forecasted every other week. End-of-season benchmarks will be provided after harvest. Users are encouraged to subscribe to receive email updates with new forecasts and to receive the evaluation reports.

FACTS is an ongoing project developed to forecast and evaluate real-time soil-crop dynamics in specific ISU fields. Predictions and measurements will be frequently updated as new information becomes available during the growing season. The project investigators and Iowa State University are not responsible for extrapolations made by individuals to other fields. Information from this website can be used for presentations without further permission if used in its entirety and credit is given to the Iowa State University FACTS project. Information from this website cannot be used in publications or other model improvement activities without prior permission of the project investigators.
