The Iowa Soybean Association has hosted a farmer-oriented research conference in central Iowa in February for many years. In 2019, the event is moving out into the state. The ISA Farmer Research Tour will be held at three locations in the first two weeks of February. Specific dates and locations of the three events are:
- February 5 in Storm Lake at King’s Pointe Resort, 1520 East Lakeshore Drive
- February 7 in Ames at the Gateway Hotel and Conference Center, 2100 Green Hills Drive
- February 12 in Cedar Rapids at The Hotel at Kirkwood Center, 7725 Kirkwood Blvd SW
The programs run from 8 am to 5 pm. The topics of presentations at the three events will be similar and are posted online here, but region-specific information also will be presented.
Presentations include “New Pest, No Rest: Soybean Gall Midge” (Erin Hodgson, ISU, Storm Lake event only) and “How to Collect, Share, and Use Data” (Dan Frieberg, Premier Crop Systems, Ames location only). Al Kluis of Kluis Commodity Advisors will give a presentation titled “Positioning for Profit in 2019” at all three events. And Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig will be the featured luncheon speaker at the Cedar Rapids location. Numerous additional presentations will be given by ISA personnel in the Analytic Services, Environmental Programs and Services, and On-Farm Network® programs of ISA at all three locations.
