Extension specialists in Iowa and Minnesota are again collaborating to provide a series of short webinars for farmers, ag professionals, Extension personnel and other interested parties from July 14 to July 23. The theme is “Essential Row Crop Management" for summer 2020, with a focus on key pest management topics that we may be finding in fields currently.
Each webinar will start at 1:00 p.m. with a 10 to 15 minute discussion followed by time for questions and answers. Sessions will be limited to 30 minutes.
The webinars are free and open to all, thanks to sponsorship by the Iowa Soybean Association, Iowa Corn Growers Association, Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council, and the Minnesota Corn Growers Association. Topics and presenters are listed below.
- July 14, 1 p.m. Tar spot identification and in-season management with Alison Robertson, professor and extension plant pathologist, Iowa State University.
- July 16, 1 p.m. Soybean aphid IPM with Erin Hodgson, professor and extension entomologist, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.
- July 21, 1 p.m. Corn rootworm management with Ken Ostlie, professor and extension entomologist, University of Minnesota.
- July 23, 1 p.m. Soybean gall midge update with Justin McMechan, professor and extension crop protection and cropping systems specialist, University of Nebraska, Lincoln.
