National Farm Safety and Health Week 2025: Safety First, Avoid the Worst

Harvest is a busy time of year, and with the extra flurry of activity, there is more equipment and slow-moving vehicles on the farm and the roa combine on road d, which can increase the chances of farm- and equipment-related accidents.

This week (Sept. 22–27) is National Farm Safety and Health Week. While we emphasize safety during this week, we encourage all farmers, their families, employees and others who share the road with agricultural equipment to be safe year-round. Agricultural injuries can have a significant impact, both economically and in terms of quality of life.

Field Agronomist in NC Iowa

Angie Rieck-Hinz is a field agronomist in north central Iowa for Iowa State University Extension and Outreach. She earned an M.S. in Soil Fertility from Iowa State University. She has worked for ISU Extension and Outreach for over 30 years, serving in various roles on campus and now in the field. Rieck-Hinz works closely with farmers on integrated pest management, crop management issues, and nutrient and manure management planning. She has been a Certified Professional Agronomist (CPAg) for 30 years and a Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) for 14 years.

Rebecca Vittetoe

Field Agronomist in EC/SE Iowa

Rebecca Vittetoe works with farmers, landowners, and ag retailers to answer agronomy-related questions. Her areas of expertise include general agronomy, crop diseases, corn, soybean, and forage management, cover crops, integrated pest management, and crop scouting. Vittetoe received her B.S. in agronomy along with a journalism and mass communications minor from Iowa State University in 2014. She earn her M.S. in agronomy from Iowa State University in 2019.

Meaghan Anderson

Field Agronomist in Central Iowa

Meaghan Anderson is a field agronomist serving nine counties in central Iowa and an extension specialist with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach. Areas of expertise include weed management, weed biology, cover crops, corn and soybean management, and integrated pest management.

Meaghan holds a bachelor's degree in agronomy and a master's degree in crop production and physiology (focus: weed science) from Iowa State University.
