Reminders for Private Pesticide Applicators in Iowa: Part 1 Final Call for Continuing Instruction Courses

Iowa private pesticide applicators are required to be certified to apply pesticides if they are using restricted-use pesticides.  Initially, to get certified, applicators need to take and pass an exam. Then, to maintain their certification, applicators can either attend a 2-hour continuing instruction course each year of their the 3-year certification cycle or pass the exam once every three years.  Private pesticide applicator continuing education is offered from December 1 through April 15.  If you still need to attend a continuing instruction course, check below to see what opportunities remain for you to complete your training between now and April 15.

  • Attend a face-to-face private pesticide continuing education course.  These 2-hour trainings are offered through your county Extension office in partnership with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach field agronomists. As of March 21, there are only 6 remaining face-to-face courses remaining.  Contact the county Extension office where you plan to attend to pre-register.
