To maintain your private pesticide applicator certification, you must either pass an exam every three years or attend an approved Private Continuing Instruction Course (P-CIC) between December 1 and April 15 each year your certification card covers.
In-Person Training
The best option to maintain your certification is to attend a live P-CIC training customized to your location provided by Extension Field Agronomists. To register, call your County Extension Office to determine dates and any pre-registration requirements. In-person training is $30. In the event of severe weather please contact the County Extension Office for updates.
Live-Streamed Training
The Pesticide Safety Education Program (PSEP) is hosting four live-streamed P-CIC online trainings as an additional option to in-person training. To register, select one of the following dates and complete the registration form through the ISU Extension Store.

Please note that registration closes at noon the day prior to each program. New accounts at the ISU Extension Store are required as of June 2025. Live-stream training is $50. Contact PSEP at 515-294-1122 with any questions.
Last Chance Training
Your County Extension Office may choose to offer a “Last Chance” P-CIC training on one or more dates between April 6-10 and 13-15, 2025. Contact your County Extension Office for more information. The pre-recorded Last Chance training is $30.
