Isolated hail and wind damage, iron deficiency chlorosis, herbicide damage, and moisture stress (too much or too little depending upon the area) were some of the big issues that ISU Extension field agronomists noted in fields across the state. Fungicide Use on Storm Damaged Soybean

Wind and storm damaged soybean have been reported across Iowa, creating yet another stress for farmers this growing season. Certain fungicide products are marketed as being capable of reducing stress in crops, so should they be sprayed on soybean this late in the season?

CALS Graduate Student Field Day

The CALS Graduate Student Field Day, put on by graduate students enrolled in the Experiences in Plant Science Extension and Outreach course, was a collaborative effort to inform attendees about the impacts of Iowa's extreme weather on the 2019 field season. Plant foliar and root diseases, and insect pests were some of the main highlights, as well as the discussion of integrated management to improve practices and prevent these diseases and pests from taking hold in future years.
