The Mueller Lab Field Crop Research Program works to increase farmer and agribusiness profitability through improved disease management. This program comprises three major research foci: I.Best management practices of soybean diseases. This includes developing integrated, sustainable management plans for important field crop diseases. II.Pesticide stewardship. This consists of helping farmers understand when seed treatment, in-furrow, or foliar fungicides should be used to manage field crop diseases. III.Identify and better understand field crop pathogens. This includes identifying new or re-emerging pathogens and increasing understanding of the biology of pathogens and diseases. An example is studying how climate change or shifts in production practices affect field crop diseases.
